I know you wrote this half a year ago, but bravo.

I went to a college full of hipsters who drove zipcars a couple of years ago (I'm in my mid-20s now). I owned my own car, had my own apartment and worked to put myself through school while they were drinking and partying without any responsibilities. Owning a car really is a great introduction to adult life. Does anyone really wonder why most of my generation is still living in their parents' basements?

>any person old enough to drink legally who rides a bicycle for transportation purposes is a consumer of health foods, marihuana, and foolish continental political philosophies

40+ registered Republican here, commuting 25 miles per day round trip from the suburbs to downtown Boston. it's faster than driving (by far, unless you leave home before 6am) and even a bit quicker than taking the T from where I live.

I can't imagine why someone would want to sit motionless wasting time on talk radio for 2 hours per day when they could be enjoying fresh air and getting some exercise

When I worked in the South End, I used to get my hair cut at State Street Barbers. For the first few months I'd walk in to the handsome wood-paneled room, take a chair, and a glass of scotch would appear as my Chechen barber went to work, regaling me with suitably hair-raising tales of the old country. Sinatra was usually on the stereo. It felt like entering another world, one where minor transgressions were coolly overlooked instead of being immediately stamped out in a Puritan tantrum. Then one day I walked in and they handed me a ginger ale.

My primary concern of legalizing gay marriage would be the domino effect it would have on other traditions. I don't see a single benefit of having homosexual parents adopting a bastard created from artificial insemination. Children these days already are riddled with psychological problems, do you really think having two "Daddies" or "Mommies" will create a suitable environment for these adopted children to prosper?
